Her hair style is out of the Ark – I learnt to do that one when I was a junior and I can’t believe she still wears it like that She’d look much younger if she coloured it. The Queen dresses appropriately for a Queen, she’s dignified and elegant.JO HANSFORDHair stylistOf course I can’t imagine who advises her – she looks like a granny. What do people expect her to wear? She is a lady of 73 after all. If she tried to dress up like a model then people would just get at her for that She can’t win.

In my opinion she’s well advised to steer clear of trying to be fashionable – whenever Mrs Blair tries it it’s a disaster. And perhaps she feels comfortable the way she is.NOEDWARD ENFIELDColumnist, The Oldie magazineI think it’s bad enough that the Queen had to go to the Royal Variety Performance and talk to a load of pop stars, without the tabloids carping on about her choice of dress It’s mean and disagreeable She looked fine. She could look better, but her clothes really need to be appropriate for the role she has. YES

Owner, Wardrobe boutiqueThe Queen needs a makeover, but not for the reasons most people think.

Whoever dressed her was insensitive – that dress was not complimentary, and I hate to see a woman ridiculed for what she wears. A woman her age needs gentle make-up and hair and flattering clothes. I think it should be up to her whether she wants to change but if she consulted me I’d suggest she look at her hairstyle – it adds 10 years Then perhaps she should update her make-up. Marisa Tomei teamed up with Space Hog’s Anthony Langdon for “Purple Rain”. Mick Jones of Foreigner picked one of his own songs, “I Want To Know What Love Is”..

Actress Ione Skye sang “Dancing Cheek to Cheek”, her brother Donovan Leitch played safe with “You’re Sixteen”. Liv Tyler belted out “My Way” and Liv Schrieber had a go at Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. But at least it doesn’t require weeks of rehearsal.WHO SANG WHATOff-duty music stars have been at the front of the queue at New York’s Elbow Room. Hard rocker David Lee Roth did “California Girls” on his night off.

Oz rocker Ben Lee tried “Rocky Mountain High”, while his actress girlfriend Clare Danes chose “Material Girl”. REM’s Michael Stipe relaxed with “Rhinestone Cowboy”, but fellow band member Mick Jones preferred “McArthur Park”. Hole’s Melissa auf der Maur recently duetted “I Get Around” with Rufus Wainright, son of Loudon. At the Bay Area Theatre Sports in San Francisco, audience members are picked to improvise on a word or a song title, a Broadway musical or tragedy – a hip version of Whose Line is it Anyway?. A panel then judges their performances – it’s a sort of thespian Olympics.By comparison, having a quiet pint down at your local bar seems quite boring.
